Abstract

Aim: To determine the differences in the preparation of curved canals after using two reciprocal Ni-Ti files with and without glide path (GP) in terms of canal transportation and centering ability.
Materials and Methods: Mesiobuccal canals of sixty mandibular first molars, were divided into four equal groups, using WaveOne Gold(WOG), Reciproc Blue(RB), WOG &GP and RB &GP. Pre-and post-instrumentation images were obtained at 3mm, 5mm and 7mm from the apex using CBCT and were assessed to determine canal transportation and centering ability. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s post hoc test for intergroup comparisons and repeated measures ANOVA followed by Bonferroni post hoc test for intragroup comparisons.
Results: In terms of canal transportation, WOG showed significantly higher values than other groups (p < 0.001), while in terms of centering ability, there was no significant difference among values measured at different distances from the apex for all the tested groups (p>0.05).
Conclusion: Glide path significantly improved the behavior of WOG in terms of canal transportation. However, the use of Glide path with Reciproc Blue did not affect the canal transportation or the centering ability.
